Transit Cargo Damage Claim SOP: Insurance & Carrier Filing Protocol

   FAQ

Transit Claims SOP How should we handle transit damage and file insurance or logistics carrier claims?

In the event of ocean container wetness, pallet crushing, or transit impact during ocean or air shipping, follow this 4-step protocol to ensure 100% insurance payout and fast cargo replenishment:

1. Log POD Exception (<24 Hours): Note all physical damages on the carrier's Delivery Receipt / Proof of Delivery (POD) before signing. Never sign "Clean Receipt" if outer packaging is compromised.
2. Digital Photo Audit: Capture high-resolution photos of container seal tags, damaged outer cartons, pallet strapping, and batch roll core labels.
3. Marine Insurance Notification: For CIF/CIP orders, notify our logistics team immediately. We file claims under All Risks Marine Insurance (ICC A) on your behalf.
4. Priority Dispatch: To prevent production stoppage, we trigger expedited replacement slitting and air shipment while insurance claims are being processed.
Report damaged cargo or submit POD images directly to our Logistics Desk:
Incoterms Liability Who files the insurance claim for FOB vs. CIF terms when shipping adhesive tape rolls?

Liability and claim administration depend on the agreed Trade Terms (Incoterms):

  • CIF / CIP Terms: Our factory manages marine cargo insurance policies (covering 110% of invoice value). We manage insurance adjuster surveys and claim filings directly, eliminating administrative burdens for buyers.
  • FOB / EXW Terms: The buyer's designated freight forwarder holds transit liability. We assist your team by providing complete export loading inspection logs, container weight certificates (VGM), and factory dispatch photos to validate carrier liability.
